Esperanza Rising 2nd Semester IRP Part 1
At first Esperanza was spoiled and had everything at her service in her hometown Mexico at El Rancho De Las Rosas. But when she moved to California there was a lot that changed her life. They had small cramped up 2 little cabins, the cabins were covered with newspapers, and if you had to use the bathroom you got no privacy. Esperanza wasn't used to the small environment in California where you had to do hard labor work but she eventually got used to it. One day when her mom was out in the fields working there was a terrible dusty storm that appeared and her mom was stuck right in the middle of it. The next day after she wasn't feeling so well so they called the doctor to help her and she had pneumonia form all the dust. So she had almost a year spending in the hospital to get well and soon she came home. While she was sick in the hospital Esperanza took the courage to do hard labor work to earn money to bring back her grandmother and she kept all of the money in a safe for when she could help her get to California. But instead her servant Miguel took all the money and helped in a surprised way to bring back Esperanza's grandmother. When she arrived her and her mother were thrilled and really happy to see her. Esperanza wasn't evil she was a very good girl she just was spoiled at first and realized that this is what she had to live with and excepted soon after she got used to it. Esperanza was a developing character and yes she changed over time. When she lived in Mexico before her father's disappearance of death she was treated loyally but when she moved to California in a small cabin with hard labor work she realized over time that she would have to live with that and there were no exceptions unless if she went back to Mexico she would be treated horribly by her uncles. Yes Esperanza's change was believable for herself because she realized that everything had and everyone who was there for her was the only thing she had hoped for. The setting in our world compared to this book is there is a place such as Mexico and California which is what we live in today and the places in the book were actual places in real life. The significance of the title of my book was that Esperanza's name means hope in english because Esperanza was hope for in Spanish. Esperanza also had a lot of hope in her to bring her family together and she felt that her with her mom and grandmother was everything for her to ever dream of. The title means that hope would rise in the book. No hope rising in this book doesn't mean more than one thing because Esperanza just needed to find her hope inside of her somewhere and she did. I would say that I understand by the book by just looking at the title because I knew that it meant that there was hope that was going to rise in someone for this book and that was Esperanza who is the main character in this book.

Esperanza Rising IRP Part 2
The main conflicts in this book are emotional and moral a little bit. The protagonist that Esperanza was expecting when she got to California was a nice big house and to go to school. But she didn't get what she expected at all instead she got a small cabin with barely any room to sleep and the walls were covered in newspapers and at first she didn't like it at all she was very annoyed by the way the camp looked to her. So she thought that when her grandmother would come she would fix everything and get her what she expected. But soon she realized that what she had in that small cabin and everyone that was there with her meant everything to her in the world. The conflict was moral when Esperanza would run off to the fields and cry because of so much she had to go through with her family and Miguel or Hortensia would yell out to her to come back but she wouldn't until after she cooled off. The character that is not the protagonist is Miguel. When he first got there and people would make fun of Esperanza because she didn't know how to work he would take the courage to help her and teach her how to work. Well the setting in the book in California was a sad setting for Esperanza to grow up in because I always had a mediam sized house to fit all of my family members in besides being cramped up a little bit. The author's chosen point of view is that she based this book off of her grandmother which was Esperanza and she she wrote the story in memoriam of her grandmother's death how her life was before the author was born and asked her grandmother questions of how her life was before the author was born.

Esperanza Rising IRP Part 3
The ending is happy but sad at the same time because Esperanza's mom was finally home and her servant Miguel brought her grandmother to California. Esperanza was sad but happy that her family was all together and all of them celebrated her birthday. Yes the ending is the appropriate ending for this book because Esperanza had everyone including her family with her on her birthday. The authors point of view is trying to say that Esperanza is a strong girl that is very beautiful and would do anything to help her family because she cared a lot about her family even though she missed her hometown and was sad that her Papa died. The author used her point of view to reveal that she knew that Esperanza was a strong, beautiful, and independent young lady. She knew that Esperanza would make it and stay strong and help her family. When her Mama was sick she would visit her as much as possible but when the doctor said she needed some time to heal instead Esperanza went above and beyond and worked really hard on everything for the camp and for her grandmother to come to town and be with her and her Mama. She worked really hard to earn money and to save the money to get her grandmother back. Soon her Mama was healthy with much rest and was very surprised to see her mother in a long time. She was also very sad and happy that her mother was back with her and her daughter Esperanza.

Esperanza Rising IRP Part 4
The theme reinforces what most people would think because the message that she was trying to give was that Esperanza would be strong and independent by learning how to do most things on her own. The theme at first gave me a new insight because I didn't know what was going to happen before I finish the book but when I got towards the end I realized that the main point of the book was to show people that to never give up on your dreams and to hope that some day you will have what you desire. Yes what you desire may not be much but as long as you have shelter, food, and water it's possible that you have everything you need even with your family. Your family with you is best thing that you could ever have. Yes it's possible that the setting can become the author because when Esperanza was little her Papa would tell her to be careful and quiet to listen to the earth's movement in Mexico and then she realized that she could hear the earth's movement anywhere she is if she was just careful and quiet than she could hear it. Every time she did that it reminded her of her Papa before he died. If she didn't leave Mexico then her uncles would take over and her Mama didn't want that for her family so she gathered everything she needed with Esperanza and left to California. Her grandmother was left there but soon after enough money her servant Miguel did the honorable thing to get her grandmother back by sneaking off from the uncles of Esperanza.

1st Semester IRP Diary Of A Wimpy Kid Part 1 There is a boy named Greg Heffley who is a normal average teenager who has very strange and weird parents who have embarrassed him before. But he has a friend named Rowley who does not understand or listen to anything that he says that normal teenagers would say and do so he embarrasses him even more. In this book Greg is thinking about how he was in his moms stomach and she would make him listen to educational music that he didn't like. When he would try to sleep his mom would read lame books to him and would snore which was kind of hard for him to sleep. He wishes that he could get peace and quite to himself but he can't when he is taking a bath his brothers come in to do really nasty things like to use the toilet or to pop a pimple. Sometimes he likes to sleep in but his dad go's to wake him up if he is late for school. This book is a good book to recommend reading because it's an awesome book.
When he was a young baby everything he got was from his older brother Roderick who was older than him. So basically everything was a hand-me- down to Greg. When he was a baby and started school he didn't know how to walk yet so all the other babies already knew how to walk. When he was a little kid many people left him out of everything and he felt like he was just being somewhere he didn't even want to be. He would hide somewhere in the house because he felt left out of everything when his mom came to talk to him it made him feel better. When he was in preschool his teacher took away his cubby and made him feel mad but his mom tried to find a way to give back his cubby. He realizes that his little brother just watches stupid little educational games while when he was little he watched other shows and movies. In his preschool there was a little kid that would bite the teachers often until he moved none of that happened around Greg again. Greg would talk about how when he and his family go to a family place at Corny's Family-Style Restaurant they always get picked to go in the children's alley. So everything is a total mess and Greg doesn't like it. Greg's younger brother Manny has imaginary friends and he doesn't know how to make real friends so his mom is helping him out a lot to make real friends. So when they go to Corny's Restaurant they have a ball pit and his mom tries to help his little brother to make new friends in the ball pit. But what Manny will do is he hide out under all the balls in the pit all the way until it's time to go home. Greg talks about how his sleeping schedule has been off since the beginning of the year because his mom ended up switching the clocks to three hours early for New Years Eve. So Manny actually felt like he was staying up until midnight but when Greg went to bed at 10:30pm he woke up at 6:30am in the morning. He really wanted to go back to sleep but he couldn't which was frustrating for him. Greg is that kind of teenager that loves to sleep in on weekends. I woke up at 6:30am this morning and couldn't get back to sleep". Page 40 This quote explains that Greg Hasn't had enough time to sleep and he feels very tired all the time since his mom set the clocks to 3 hours earlier for New Years Eve for his little brother manny would think that he was staying up at midnight. |
Diary Of A Wimpy Kid Part 2That Saturday morning it was frustrating for Greg to go back to sleep so he woke up, got some breakfast, and did some of his chores to get his allowance form his mom because he doesn't have any money. His Uncle Gary just nocked at the door that morning to get some money for which he has a bad record track to not give back any money. His dad came down stairs and said over the phone that he would not give Uncle Gary his money because of that reason. When his dad was talking over the phone to Uncle Gary he sent him money because his mom said that he should give him money because to help out a family member in need. They hadn't heard form him since that morning when he came to nock at the door.
So his uncle brought a lot of souvenirs to show all of them what he got. When he pulled out his Spelled wrong shirt for Boston it said Botson and Roderick wanted it right away so he gave it to him. When his uncle came to spend the night in his little brothers room Manny he had a nightmare and screamed out that there were monkeys in the walls. So it scared Manny and now his uncle sleeps in the living room on the couch while Manny's bed is in the middle of the room away from the walls. So when Roderick wants to sleep on the couch he sleeps on the arm of the couch instead of sleeping on his uncle. His dad has been nagging his uncle about finding a job. But when his uncle found a job over last summer about pepper spray the people who worked there tested it out on him and he quit the job before lunch even started. Every time Greg get's home from school his uncle is always sleeping on the couch and he can't yell to his parents when he is home. Greg's dad has to dress up in ties, long socks, and dress shoes all the time for his work. But Greg had already thought not to get a job that you have to dress up for all the time. He doesn't even see that uncle Gary would even get a job like that either. Last summer his dad had a "bring your kid to work day" at his job so when he brought Greg his job had a whole lot of entertainment at his job because they thought that the kids would be bored out of their minds. When his dad brought him to work and at the end of the day when he had to finnish some left over work he couldn't concentrate on it when someone was right behind him watch over his shoulders. So he gave Greg some money to buy some food from the vending machine and he came back munching on a bag of jaw breakers so he sent him somewhere else. When he was in the bathroom eating his dad forgot about him and left him there all night if it wasn't for the janitor who saw him and took him home he would have been there all night. His dad has been getting tough on uncle Gary because his mom has been giving him an allowance for doing nothing while Greg and Roderick had to do chores to earn it which is frustrating for Greg. When Greg went to use his bubble bath to bathe himself his uncle used all of his bubble bath the second day he came so Greg hopes that he is spending it on his own bubble bath because Greg doesn't feel right when he has clear water in his bath. It was Tuesday and he wished that he didn't throw out his good looking pants that had puke smell on them because he needed to look nice for his partner in physical education for a ballroom dance practice. "To be honest with you, I don't really care who I get paired up with as long as it isn't Ruby Bird". Page 59 This quote means that Greg doesn't want to be partners with her because she got suspended for biting a teacher. teacher used the same way last year to pick partners which was you had to write down which partner you chose on a piece of scratch paper and his teacher Ms. Moretta would try her best to pair people up. He got paired up with Baylee Anthony which was the prettiest girl in class but she refused to work with Greg so she went around and told all the boys who were nerds not to pick her. He said that he would be fine paired up with anyone but a girl named Ruby Bird who was the only one who got suspended for biting a teacher. Diary Of A Wimpy Kid Part 3 |
Ruby is missing a front tooth because when she bit the P.E. teachers arm the tooth got stuck in his arm. So when his teacher pairs up people for the dance he writes a not saying for her to please not put him with Ruby. He says that he is scared that her other tooth will end up in his arm so he tries to be nice and friendly to her in the halls. He prayed really hard that night before he went to bed to not be paired with Ruby. The next day in Physical Education his wish was granted he would not be with Ruby. But he was not happy with the ways his partner turned out to be. Ruby ended up being paired with Fregley. So when all the girls were called there were still a lot of boys left in his class and including him too. This book is a good book to read because some of it is funny and some of it is cool to read about about the ballroom dance which was funny for Greg and Carlos.
So when the boys thought that they didn't need to dance with each other for the ballroom dance they all cheered and thought that they were going to play kickball on the other side of the gym for 3 weeks. But it turns out that they had to dance so Greg ended up with doing the waltz with a guy named Carlos. When it was Monday Greg's school had a last minute assembly before physical education so that skipped the class. But it was kind of sucks for Greg because him and Carlos were getting the hang of the merengue. Most people were excited what the assembly was going to be about because they haven't had one since November. The one in November was about a guy named the amazing Andrew who hypnotized a line of 8th grade boys thinking that they were glued together but when he said the magic word cucumber they all fell apart. But it turns out there were two boys that were still linked together and amazing Andrew was gone so a kid named Martin tried to unlink them but it wouldn't help at all. His school has really weird assemblies like when they brought in a guy named strong Steve who told them to stay away from drugs and actually ripped a phone book in half. So all the boys wanted to try it out so they went to the library and teared almost all of the books in half so the librarian had to replace all those books for the teared ones. " the person that I really hope that they don't bring a this singer Krisstina". Page 70 This quote is trying to say that Krisstina's lyrics and songs were positive but she has never really left the state but she says she is a international pop star singer, people who have never left the state are not that much of a international singer because most people who are real singers have left the state before. Diary Of A Wimpy Kid Part 4 |
Greg is talking about how he can send all of the jerks to jail and he would have a good career. When people were giving speeches a boy named Bryan Buttsy went to to speak and what people started to do was make a whole bunch of obnoxious noises while Greg sat there like why are they doing those noises. When Bryan was speaking Greg thought maybe he had some interesting stuff to say but he couldn't hear it with a lot of racket in the gym. There was a kid named Eugene Ellis who was running for class president and he said that he would replace the toilet paper with soft quilted toilet paper because the toilet paper the school has right now is like sand paper. His school thought of a way to fundraise by selling chocolate crunch bars but nobody really ate it except for Greg. So the fundraiser was practically a screw up. nobody sold a single candy bar they just ate it and all of the families had send out checks to the school for their kids eating all of the chocolates. When his dad was talking to his uncle Gary he found out that he has been spending his money on scratch tickets and his dad said i would rather you would get struck by lightning then to waste money. So now his little brother Manny is scared to even step a foot outside in the rain. His dad got tricked a few years back thinking that he won 100.000 dollars but it turns out that it was a fake and his dad got so mad at him.
Is the ending happy, unhappy, or indeterminate (just ends, leaves you hanging, the conflict is not clearly resolved). Is the ending the appropriate ending for this book? In the book there was a happy ending but it was kind of funny because Greg got sick and wanted to stay home and take a bath. So he took a hot bubbly bath when he got the chicken pox. Yes the ending is appropriate because all it says that Greg got sick and took a hot bubbly bath when he was the only kid home so that meant that nobody would barge in the bathroom or steal his bubbles for his bath. "Eugene's campaign speech was only about thirty seconds long." This means that he was running for president but didn't do any posters or hand out any candy for his campaign. Which probably meant that he wouldn't win for president because he didn't do anything to make himself resourceful. So that means that some else would win for president because they were more prepared for their campaign. |
